1:00 – 3:30 PM
Location: Cacapon Resort State Park, Nature Center
Instructor: Hiroko Rubin
A doll festival takes place every March in Japan. All the families with their daughters display their special dolls. Sometimes, mothers and grandmothers make their own dolls for their children. The Oshidori bird is one of the types of dolls they make. This bird symbolizes a happy relationship because they mate for life.
We will make the bird using vintage Kimono fabric that the instructor purchased in Japan. It involves basic hand stitching. Kits will be provided with many different patterns and colors to choose from. Enjoy creating this beautiful symbolic doll to display in your home or give as a gift to someone special. Hiroko Rubin studied dollmaking with a doll master in Japan. She has many years of experience teaching traditional Japanese crafts to people of all ages.
Tuition: $36 / $30 MAC members.
