Take Me Home Country Roads
Annual Quilt Show
July 26 – September 15
Curator: Dottie O’Toole
Gallery Reception: July 27 @ 3PM

The Morgan Arts Council is delighted to announce the annual Delectable Mountains Quilt Show, opening at the Ice House on Friday, July 26th. This year’s exhibit, curated by Dottie O’Toole, promises to be a heartwarming celebration of the craft of quilting.

Inspired by John Denver’s beloved song, “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” the quilt show evokes themes of home, family, love, and comfort. The song’s nostalgic and heartwarming sentiments are mirrored in the quilts on display, each piece a testament to the enduring appeal of home and the memories that make it special.

Quilting has a rich history, evolving from a practical necessity to a cherished art form. Traditionally a social activity, quilting brought communities together by sewing bees and creating heirlooms for new brides and babies. Today, advancements in sewing technology and the vast array of beautiful fabrics have elevated quilting to a highly respected craft showcased in exhibitions worldwide.

The “Take Me Home Country Roads Quilt Show” features an impressive collection of quilts from local artists across Pennsylvania, Virginia, Maryland, and West Virginia. Each quilt is a masterpiece infused with the love and dedication of its maker. Visitors will find a quilt that resonates with them, bringing them joy and comfort for years.

In addition to the quilt display, the show offers a variety of activities every Saturday. Guests can participate in classes led by local quilters and renowned instructors, watch demonstrations of different sewing and quilting techniques, and visit a children’s corner to introduce young enthusiasts to the world of fabrics and textiles.

Back by popular demand, the Quilter’s Boutique will feature various unique handcrafted items perfect for the home and family. Shoppers will find diverse goods, including table mats, wall quilts, hangings, purses, bags, and other specialty projects.

Join us at the Ice House for this delightful celebration of quilting. Experience the beauty and craftsmanship of the quilts, learn from expert quilters, and find that unique piece to take home. As the song says, “Country roads, take me home.”
