LEARN TO SEW COSTUMES IN BERKELEY SPRINGS

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- Two ongoing sewing classes started recently at the Ice House in Berkeley Springs. Both are taught by Marti Sikes, costumer of the Ice House theater company. Both classes meet every Monday from 4 to 6pm in the second floor classroom.

One class is "Sew With Us" where no experience is needed. Attendees may bring their own machine or use ones that are ready for each class. Students are to provide their own supplies and bring a project on which they want to work.

The second activity is the formation of the "Costume and Sewing Volunteer Corps" organized to create costumes for Ice House Theater productions. "The volunteers will learn everything from how to creatively embellish an already made item to redesigning hats," said Sikes. "The Ice House Theater provides all supplies for this group." Sikes is very enthusiastic about forming the volunteer corps. "I can promise people they will have lots of fun researching time periods and historical events, and they get to work with the actors before and during the plays." Members of the volunteer corps will also work with high school and other performing groups in the community.
