PROGRESSIVE BLUEGRASS IN BERKELEY SPRINGS

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV --- Traveling north along the Blue Ridge from their homebase in Franklin County, Virginia, Harwell Grice performs at the free concert in downtown Berkeley Springs State Park on Saturday, August 2 at 5:30pm. Produced by the Morgan Arts Council, the concert's rain location is the nearby Ice House.

This young progressive bluegrass group is well known for their hard-driving original material, classic two and three-part harmonies and high quality performance of traditional tunes. The six-person band includes mandolin, banjo and stand-up bass along with vocals and guitar.

"Bluegrass continues to be an evolving sound," said Gordon Macleod, organizer of the concert series. "It will be musically interesting to see what a difference the years make between the mid-1970s' work of Hickory Wind that the crowd loved last weekend and the 21st century originals from Harwell Brice." The MAC Summer Concerts in the Park are sponsored by Carl M. Freeman Foundation. Additional funding for the free concert is provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues.
