FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- 5/25/07
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ----- The Morgan Arts Council (MAC) recently received a $2000 grant from Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation – Jane P. Snyder Youth Fund. "The grant was specifically given to fund our first summer theater camp in Paw Paw," said Mary Hott, MAC's Executive Director. "We're pleased that the Foundation considers this outreach project to be as important as MAC did in planning it."
Hott was instrumental in developing the weeklong Paw Paw theater camp. "I would have loved spending a week doing theater when I was growing up in Paw Paw," she recalled.
Margi Griffiths and Brice Williams are teaching the theater camp which will explore all aspects of staging a production from acting and music to building sets. The intensive camp is at Paw Paw school from 9am to noon, August 13 to 16 and concludes with a staged production by the students. All age youth are welcome to apply.
Hott reported that other grants are being sought for this program. "The Jane P. Snyder Fund helped MAC start the youth theater project in Berkeley Springs in 2000," said Hott. "Hundreds of children have passed through that program in the years since," she said. "We look forward to an equally successful program in Paw Paw."
