FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- 8/9/07
BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV -----Music from New Orleans has a sound all its own
and it is performed at Berkeley Springs State Park on Saturday, August
18 at 5:30pm by the Dixie Power Trio . Produced by the Morgan Arts
Council, the concert has the Ice House as a rain location.
The Dixie Power Trio starts their original mix by pointing out to all
who can count that there are really four members of the band. Their
brand of Dixieland sound includes a gumbo of musical genres from zydeco
and swing to cajun and rock 'n roll.
Using traditional New Orleans
instrumentation, the Dixie Power Trio ventures into territory where no
tuba or accordion has dared to tread. Borrowing material from Dr. John,
Chuck Berry, Jelly Roll Morton, even the Ramones and Led Zeppelin and
many others, the band reinvents classics giving them an authentic New
Orleans jazz twist. "They call it Dixieland for the 21st century,"
said Gordon Macleod, planner of the concert series, "and they give it
everything they've got."
The MAC Summer Concerts in the Park are sponsored by Carl M. Freeman
Foundation. Additional funding for the free concert is provided by
the National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the
Arts and local hotel/motel tax revenues. Berkeley Springs State Park
is made available courtesy of the West Virginia Department of Natural
Resources. For more information about the Morgan Arts Council and the
