SONGWRITER SHOWCASE AT ICE HOUSE

BERKELEY SPRINGS, WV ---- West Virginia songwriter and musician,
Colleen Anderson, performs as centerpiece of a songwriter showcase at
the Ice House on Thursday, March 11 at 7:30pm. Anderson sings and
talks about the art of songwriting from her own view as well as
interviewing a trio of Morgan County women who recently won top honors
at the Morgan County Songwriting Competition. The showcase is
produced by the Morgan Arts Council (MAC).

The local songwriters performing are Susan Milburn, Laura Riley and
Kate Evans. Master musician and fiddler Joe Herrmann accompanies
Riley. Jim Salman accompanies Anderson.

Anderson is conducting songwriting workshops for 10th graders at
Berkeley Springs and Paw Paw high schools throughout the week as part
of MAC's Adopt-a-School program. "Colleen may bring along some of the
students and the songs they've written through the week," said Mary
Hott. MAC's Executive Director. Students will be admitted free.

MAC has been producing the songwriting series for two years. Funding
for Anderson's school work and the showcase is provided by the
National Endowment for the Arts, West Virginia Commission on the Arts
and Morgan County School levy funds.

The Ice House is located at Independence and Mercer in downtown
Berkeley Springs. For more information, call 304-258-2300 or check
